Shark Species Facing Extinction

Sharks are known to be killer, well, killers but this isn't necessarily true. People think that sharks love preying on innocent surfers and swimmers.

What most people don't know is that the poor people that managed to get attacked by sharks are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. A lot of the times the sharks involved in the attacks are baby sharks that simply don't know the difference seals and surfers. Basically, sharks are misunderstood creatures. Don't bother them, and they won't bother you.

That was just a big tangent to my main point. Sadly, these misunderstood, beautiful creatures are going extinct. It's not just the great white that's vulnerable to extinction but shark species across the board. So, the hammerhead that used scare me when I was little is endangered and may not be around in, maybe, 10 years from now. How scary is that?

One of the primary reasons sharks are dying off is because they are slain for their fins for shark fin soup. Their carcasses are left to rot in the ocean (note the above picture). How sad! :( Someone call PETA!

Do you know any organizations dedicated to saving sharks? If so, let me know!
